Spearman was elected by the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners on January 5, 2010 to serve out the term as County Commissioner representing District 17 due to the seat becoming vacant. Spearman, a Real Estate Broker, Master Auctioneer and Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser in Tennessee and Alabama, has resided with his wife Donna Kaye Dorsey Spearman in Lawrenceburg for 48 years. They have two children; Andy Spearman who teaches musical string instruments and Debbie Scott who teaches kindergarten at Ingram Sowell School. They also have eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and attend Calvary Hill Church of God. Spearman presently serves as Vice President of the local Gideons. Spearman is a certified graduate from Tennessee Real Estate Education System (TREES), noted nationwide as one of the best accredited providers for real estate brokers and appraiser training. At present, Spearman serves on the Veterans Administration panel of appraisers for seven southern middle Tennessee counties, and also, is registered on the Federal Roster as a FHA Appraiser. Spearman registered 60 hours of class room study at the University of North Alabama in which he successfully passed the Federal Aviation exam and went on the become a license private pilot in 1993. In 1961 through 1964, Spearman served with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY, where he received an honorable discharge. At present Spearman is a 29 year member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors. He and his wife Donna Kaye are Rotary Multi-Level Paul Harris Fellows. He is also a member of Lawrenceburg Masonic Lodge, Nashville Scottish Rite, and Life member of the Shrines International – Nashville Al Menah Shriners. Spearman’s experience in government comes from serving on a number of boards within Lawrence County and the City of Lawrenceburg; Former member and chair person of the “Lawrenceburg Regional Planning Commission” for 6 years, former member and chair person for over 20 years on the “Lawrenceburg-Lawrence County Airport Board”, past president and chair person of the board of the “Lawrence County Senior Citizens” from 1981 to 1987, former charter member of the “Lawrenceburg Industrial Development Board”, former member and chair person of the “Lawrence County Solid Waste Board”. Commissioner Spearman presently serves as chair person of the Lawrence County Regional Planning Commission – Special Impact, and also serves as a commission member on the County’s Insurance and Benefits, Tourism, Resolution, Public Safety Jail & Judicial and Nonprofit & Charitable committees. |
